The movie I chose was Django Unchained. While watching these clips from behind the scenes was that they did multiple takes of the same scene. Each time they tweaked with how the characters interacted with their environment and with other characters. I thought that this was very insightful to the making of this movie and just movies in general. Another thing I noticed was how involved the director was throughout the filming. He was talking with the actors, extras, and camera people. I thought that it was pretty cool seeing the director so involved with how things are done. It was also amazing to see how much people were actually working on this movie. In the finished product we only get to see the actors, but the amount of people working behind the cameras was amazing to see. Another thing I noticed was that some cameras were on tracks for scenes where the actors are moving. It was interesting to see the different kinds of techniques used to film this.

Another interesting thing was what Quentin Tarantino wanted from his actors. In an interview, he said to Jamie Foxx that he needs to drop everything that makes Jamie Foxx who he is, all the bling and clothes, and he’s got to be nothing again. This worked incredibly well in the final product because you really felt like the main character Django was nothing at the start. Another interesting behind the scenes thing I learned about this movie was how Leonardo Dicaprio dealt with using the N word. Samuel L. He was very uncomfortable about using the word and Samuel L. Jackson said it’s just another Tuesday for us. I thought that was an interesting thing. Also, in Leonardo’s famous scene where he talks about his slaves he actually cut his hand when he banged it on the table. He kept acting and smeared his blood all over the poor actress’s face. It was a genius stroke of improv.
